What We Collect
When you use GuitarMap, we may collect the following information:
- Account information — email address and display name when you create an account.
- Audio files — files you upload for transcription. These are stored securely and only accessible to you.
- Usage data — how you interact with the app (pages visited, features used, transcription counts) to improve the product.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never store your full card number.
- Waitlist email — if you join our waitlist before launch.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the GuitarMap service
- To process your transcriptions and store your tabs
- To handle payments and manage your subscription
- To send you important updates about your account or the service
- To improve the product based on usage patterns
- To respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.
Third-Party Services
GuitarMap uses the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and file storage
- Stripe — payment processing
- Vercel — application hosting and deployment
- PostHog — product analytics (anonymized usage data)
Each of these services has their own privacy policy and data handling practices.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in encrypted databases hosted by Supabase. Audio files are stored in private storage buckets — each user can only access their own files through row-level security policies. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data — request a copy of what we have
- Correct inaccurate data in your account
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your transcriptions in standard formats (ASCII, PDF, MIDI)

Cookies
GuitarMap uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We may also use analytics cookies (via PostHog) to understand how the app is used. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you via email if the changes are significant.
